JCIAlumni.org uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve the experience. We collect:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • How you navigate the site (clicks on buttons, links, and navigation)
  • Search terms entered on the site
  • General location (country/region level, not precise)
  • Device type, browser, and screen size

What We Do Not Collect

  • Personal information (names, emails, phone numbers)
  • Precise location or IP addresses (GA4 anonymizes IPs by default)
  • Any data used for advertising or remarketing

Cookies Used

When you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics sets the following:

  • _ga — Distinguishes unique visitors. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_* — Maintains session state. Expires after 2 years.

We also store your consent preference in your browser's local storage (analytics_consent) so we don't ask you again on every visit.

Consent & Opt-Out

When you first visit the site, a cookie consent banner appears. Analytics cookies are not set until you click Accept. If you decline, no tracking cookies are placed and no data is sent to Google Analytics.

To opt out after accepting:

  1. Clear your browser cookies for this site
  2. Remove analytics_consent from local storage (via browser developer tools)
